Yuck. I always assume I am responsible for my own safety, thats the nature of mountain biking and go out knowing I could get hurt but take the risk anyway. If the guy wasn't able to make it over a loose board, maybe he should stick to roads rather than trails. I'm sorry he was injured, but come on.

It's for a motor paced track bike - you know, they ride behind a motorcycle.

At some point I always expect NPR will break through my blissful ignorance with an obligatory jock story, but I didn't expect it on a bike blog.

I aim to please, Ron :-).

I grew up just outside Pittsburgh. It still seems like home. I remember the wonder as Chuck Noll built the team up from a so-so one into a powerhouse. Stallworth, Swan, Greene, Lambert, were all household names.

Terry Grossman came into the bike shop once or twice. He was a tight end, with the biggest hands I've ever seen. He had two bikes, a Schwinn Paramount and a Volare (if I recall right) and he even rode a few crits with the ACA under an assumed name.

I'll be sitting on the couch Sunday, yelling at the TV set!

I've been running 1.5 since the day it came out on 4 machines with no crashes. It's the main tool I use for my job, I typically have a dozen tabs open. As you say, must be an extension. I run a few extensions, but they're all pretty mainstream; forecastfox, adblock, image zoom and gmail notfier.

I'm using a Park PRS-5 (if I recall right) and it's OK as a portable stand. I cracked one of the plastic parts in the head, probably from overtightening it, but Park replaced it free of charge. Good customer service.

I'm using an Avenir floor pump that probably 8 or 10 years old. It's on its second pump head, a no-name replacement from a local shop. And it's on the second pressure gauge too, after suspected Libyan terrorists snuck into the garage and broke the original one. It had to be the terrorists. My son denied any knowledge of the incident.

The absolutely best way to deal with poseurs is to drop them as quickly as possible.

The second best way, and this is a personal favorite, is to offend their finely tuned sensibilities by showing up at a ride dressed in plaid Bermuda shorts, Hawaiian shirt, and big, clunky black-framed 'birth control' glasses - the kind they issue in the military.

Fabrizio would get a bad case of the vapors!

That ideal-weight blog definitely is spammy, though it's done so poorly that there's no way the owner could be getting any traffic or benefit from it. I was giving the author the benefit of the doubt and was going to contact her (or him) to find out what's up.

I hate spammers, but I'm also a nice guy.

The Travel Channel is indeed owned by The Discovery Channel, nonetheless, and of course the commercial connection between Discovery's bicycle team and Trek becomes a little more obvious.
